RANDOM FACTS

I use way too many exclamation marks, but I'm really just that excited!!!! I want to know what moves your heart. I say "that's so funny" quite a bit, but it can mean a number of things. I am a lover of donuts and tea. I floss every night before bed! I love the idea of being spontaneous, but rarely do things unplanned. I am the youngest of four girls, but I'm taller than all my sisters. I would love to open a cafe someday. I am fascinated by the bridegroom God and his ravished heart for all of humanity

Help the Maas Family this Summer!

The Maas Family has been such a blessing to me and my family over the past few years. Their love for Jesus is inspiring. Hanging out with them just makes you want to love the Lord more! I photographed this beautiful family a year and a half ago and shared their story on my blog. What a pleasure it was to photograph them again in Kansas City last fall- and what colorful trees we had as our backdrop!

The Maas Family have a huge heart for children and will be ministering in Asia this summer. If you feel led, please support their mission trip through this link. There, you can read more about their journey and what they are planning to do in Asia this summer.

Orange County Family Photographer: Ollie’s 6 Months!

I just took Oliver’s 9 month pictures last week and realized I never posted his 6 months. This boy is growing up too fast! : ) If you missed his 3 months, check it out here and follow along to see how much he has grown! Stay tuned for his 9 months (if you love daisies, you’ll love this session!) and finally his 1 year in just a few months! : )

San Diego Engagement Session: Sean + Charissa

I loved spending the afternoon with Charissa and Sean and getting a glimpse of what their relationship is like. Their love is just too sweet! I was so moved by something Sean did I just have to share it here: Benny and I drove Charissa down to San Diego where Sean was already waiting for us. When we got there Sean handed Charissa these lovely tulips (pictures below!). She seemed surprised, because it was just Charissa’s birthday the week before and he had already gotten flowers for her then. Why more flowers?! Sean explained that the other ones weren’t like these ones and that he just wanted to. I love the way Charissa’s face totally lit up! : )

We went around UCSD for their engagement session and Charissa and Sean introduced me to different parts of the Stuart Collection and wow, how I wish UCLA had interactive art pieces like these around the school too! We had so much fun exploring the campus and then headed over to Mount Soledad where Sean had proposed to Charissa. The view there was breathtaking. I am officially in love with San Diego!

    HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

To all you beautiful MOMMYS out there- HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! You do so much for those around you and you hardly get recognized. Today we celebrate YOU and all the love and care that you give. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to others. We are so thankful for you!! and now, one with my momma! Thank you Mommy for giving so much of yourself to our family. (all 19 of us!) I don’t know how you do it…you really are Superwoman! We love you!

Pasadena Engagement Session: Amy + Daniel

I can’t believe my dear friend Amy is married! It seems like just yesterday we were hanging out at UCLA and praying for the perfect man to walk into our lives (yes, we prayed about that!) and now she has found him! Amy was like an older sister to me in college- cooking for me, driving me everywhere, and always making sure I was doing ok. I am seriously so grateful for her friendship through these years. And Daniel. Daniel is so wonderful. He is kind and sweet and so so good to Amy. I am so happy for you two! Many blessings as you start this new chapter together!

Newborn Session with Zara Dawn Hui

Everyone meet the newest addition to my very big family of (soon to be) 19! Zara came on the first day of March and was welcomed by so many loved ones. She is growing so much every day and is a constant reminder of God’s perfect leadership in our lives.

I love what my sister Eunice wrote about where Zara’s name came from:

“Zara was named after the city Zarephath where, in the time of famine, God continuously multiplied a widow”s last portion of flour and oil (1 Kgs 17). Not only did her home become a source of life for her family and the prophet Elijah, but her story a testament that God chooses to draw near to the poor in spirit and a reminder that He ses those who are unseen. We also believe that Zara’s birth signifies a dawning of a new season of hope for us as well as for others.”

And real quick! My sister wrote an article for Inheritance Magazine earlier this year about motherhood. Check it out! : )

Pasadena Portrait Session: Morning with Lor

I love that Loretta wanted to celebrate her 25th birthday with a portrait session. Birthdays are a big deal, you know? For my 23rd birthday, my golden year, I flew into Minnesota to get my portraits taken and I am so so glad I decided to do it! I was excited to find out that Loretta’s reason for this session was similar to mine. She had recently found pictures of her grandma while looking through old albums. Pictures from her grandma’s younger years, waaay before Loretta even met her. There’s really something about seeing someone in a way you’ve never seen before. You feel like you know them in a new way. You understand them better. You even love them a little more! I love how photographs can do that (and that’s why I do what I do!). I remember seeing pictures of my mom before she married my dad and realizing how human my mom was. She had a life before me with hopes and expectations for the future. I stared at the pictures and wondered what my mom was thinking then, what struggles she was going through at the time, and what kind of dreams she was keeping in her heart.

Loretta wanted to document her 25th for that same reason. She wanted to remember and to be known. Lor, you look absolutely beautiful in these pictures. Your future kids (and husband!) will love them! ; )

dress: Forever 21 + Vivian Chan

my editing style and some before + afters!

Sometimes I have potential clients asking me what I do when I edit my photos. I try to tell them the best I know how, but sometimes it’s easier just to look at before + afters! The first of each pair is what comes straight out of my camera and the second is after editing. Hope this helps! : )

Getty Engagement Session: Eric + Alyssa!

My 2013 brides will always have a special place in my heart. What a memorable journey it has been so far helping couples plan their wedding in the midst of planning my own! Meeting up with Eric and Alyssa was so fun. We bonded talking about color combinations, bridesmaids and wedding dresses, and just sharing wedding planning tips. It’s so helpful bouncing off ideas and being inspired by each other! : )

I love how colorful Eric and Alyssa’s engagement session turned out. It makes me SUPER excited for their upcoming wedding in September, because I know there will be so many fun details and lots of vibrant colors! Stay tuned for a post on their big later this year : )

You two look amazing here, btw! And Alyssa, you look absolutely beautiful in this dress!

    Natalie’s 3 Months!

I have another treat for you this week! : ) Here are Natalie’s 3 month pictures! This cutie belongs to my cousin David and his beautiful wife Gwen. Remember Ollie’s 3 months post from a while back? That was Natalie’s cousin- how fun that they are just a few months apart and will grow up together!

Gwen and David have a beautiful home and I love that we were able to take these photos at their place- they have such great taste! What a fun session we had chatting over coffee, taking these fun photos, and then sharing a feast at Gyu-Kaku afterwards. Thank you so much for a fun time and taking such great care of me! : ) Look forward to hanging out with your family again soon!
